Ahead of the game's market debut, Nintendo Japan has recently shared a comprehensive write-up detailing some of the new additions to Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, which includes a few previously undisclosed tidbits. Among other things, the preview mentions Quick Recast, a new mechanic that speeds up cooldowns for Arts. Activating this feature is as simple as pressing the Y button, Nintendo Everything reports. Quick Recast is balanced by having its usage limited by a gauge, which can be refilled by performing auto attacks during combat. The latest Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition trailer shows a glimpse of Quick Recast around the 1:44 mark, during the fight with the Bronze Cinicula. At that point in the video, there's a green gauge denoting the player's Quick Recast reserves at the bottom of the screen.

Nintendo's preview also includes another look at Hraesvelg, a new Skell that will be featured in the Switch version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. Hraesvelg is a light-themed mech capable of transforming into a flying machine. On the ground, it wields a massive sword. The game's latest trailer showcased the mech's flight form. The identity of Hraesvelg's pilot is a notable mystery that Nintendo says will be revealed at a later date.

Finally, the new character seen in the January 2025 trailer has now been identified as Neil Nail—a name that will possibly differ in the English version of the game. Her role in the story of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is currently unclear, though it's hinted that she'll have a connection to some of the RPG's Skells.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will hit the market on the first day of spring, March 20. Like the vast majority of first-party Nintendo games, both its digital and physical versions will retail for $59.99. The new version of Xenoblade Chronicles X is expected to be one of Nintendo's final Switch games, as the Japanese gaming giant is soon expected to shift its focus to its next console, which is set to be announced by March 31 and should hit the market sometime in 2025.
